Recreational Vehicle ShippingIf you’re looking for someone to ship your recreational vehicle, we here at Envision Auto Relocations can help. In addition to providing quality car transport services, we offer a wide range of alternative vehicle transportation, including recreational vehicles (RV’s). RV’s come in various shapes and sizes, both attached to a vehicle or merely equipped with a hitch, but we can ship them all here at Envision. In this helpful article we’ll discuss some of the ins and outs of recreational vehicle shipping and how we can help you get the best rates for shipping your RV from anywhere, to anywhere in the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii.

Typically there are two ways to ship a recreational vehicle (as opposed to simply driving it from one location to another). The first and most common method is to find a flatbed auto transport carrier to ship it. Flatbed carriers are not as common as open or enclosed shippers are, as they’re designed to ship larger vehicles, or vehicles that can’t be loaded onto a standard auto transport carrier. Typically it’ll take more time to find a flatbed carrier than an open carrier, but only because there are fewer flatbed carriers out there that provide interstate transportation services. But it’s definitely doable, and we here at Envision can get you the best prices to ship your recreational vehicle via a flatbed carrier.

The second method of recreational vehicle shipping is to actually have it towed – this applies mainly to RV’s that have a hitch as opposed to an attached cab, so to speak. RV’s that only have a hitch may be able to be hauled by a flatbed carrier, but on the whole they’ll most likely be hooked onto the back of a large pickup truck that a carrier company will dispatch to the pickup location. Recreational vehicle shipping may have restrictions and the like that don’t necessarily pertain to regular car transportation, so we recommend speaking to one of our live agents if you’re looking to ship your own RV. This goes double if you’re looking to ship your recreational vehicle overseas to Alaska or Hawaii as well.

Obviously, it’s going to cost a bit more for recreational vehicle shipping than it would for, say, SUV shipping services, mostly because recreational vehicles aren’t really shipped every day and there are fewer carriers that are able to handle such a large vehicle. Of course, smaller RV’s, and especially really smaller campers/trailers, are going to cost less, and the price generally goes up along with the length of the RV and the overall weight. When shopping around for RV shipping quotes, be sure to have all the dimensions of the vehicle on-hand; they should be in the owner’s manual, but if you don’t have it or they aren’t in there you can simply measure the dimensions yourself.
